The perfect extension for a post or blog entry, definitive guide

What is the minimum length that the post should have been a very important question that today you will see resolved?

The length of the posts is something that many people wonder and the opinions are contradictory. Today I hope to clear up all your doubts about the ideal size of a post and, incidentally, share some secrets about positioning short texts. Ever since Google Panda said that the content in a blog is the most important thing, the entries have become long and many times we fear that we have made a post too short.

The perfect extension for a post or blog entry, definitive guide

The concern that we deal with in this post about what is the perfect length of a post or post is referring to positioning, it is also a serious SEO mistake not to take into account the duration of the post.

What is the perfect extension in the text of a minimum post that Google recommends?

In the titles we are clear that there are 76 maximum and 56 minimum characters, but in the text of the paragraph there is no written law.
Google actually estimates that texts below 300 words can be considered spam. It is considered very poor quality.
Given that what rewards is the content and less than 300 words is not much money in the eyes of search engines and being more semantic, robots do not get to grasp the concept well since there are no synonyms, explanations, definitions of similar terms.

For this reason, when you are cautious, you try to go up to 400 as I see recommended, but I recommend it if your audience accesses it mostly from mobile devices.
With more than 600 words, the search engine already begins to take your content into account as quality content.
With 600 words, Google already says: “It has gotten its act together” With 600 words in a post you can opt for the content to be optimal, trying to exceed 600 is very important to give an up to the SEO of your post. I know that for many blogs 605 words is too much but later I will tell you some tricks to achieve surprising length.

Where do I get the minimum 600 words of perfect length for Google to start making eyes at you?

I have several reasons to be clear that with less than 600 you do not just convince the search engines.
1- Search engines are guided by many different parameters when evaluating whether content is of quality or not, one of them is the HTML ratio, it is the percentage of HTML compared to the text of a website.

The text ratio is a parameter that is not respected much in SEO because with WordPress it is on the ground and nobody wants to throw stones at their roof, when I publish the post, I will see but if I reach 2% it is a miracle.

The ratio of text to html is between 15% and 30% (there is no quorum here either) so in the first case we are left with a ratio of 85% code*.
* Although the base is PHP, the browser renders in HTML to display the page of that code, the average output.
If you want to see what your ratio is, you can find out with a browser extension called SEO quake that appears in this post: 2- It is very difficult to develop a complete theme that leaves no doubts in less than 600 words , the dropout rate can be very big. 3- Another point for which, in my opinion, the minimum length of a text to be positioned is 600 words is that the greater the amount of content, the longer the page, so, the bounce rate is less damaging.
4- And the most obvious for me is that in Spanish we have many empty words, prepositions, articles, complements that make the number of words go up, but if we had some tool to know “how lean” the text is, it would be quite low.

What is the maximum length of a text that Google recommends?

Normally the posts that are best positioned are those that exceed 1200 words. Regarding a maximum length, it says nothing , this is a double-edged sword because a long text can be difficult to read, that is where you should see which post you they work better, I am not going to talk about anyone but the posts that I have in this blog that are better positioned and more visited are very long.
I don’t want to say that what is good for my blog is good for yours, but with the tutorials and the opinion on blogging I can achieve a high density of words in the text of any post, maybe it will take you a lifetime to put together 300 words together because your subject does not lend itself to this.
Think that the longer the text means that you incorporate more content that alludes to the main topic or keyword and this is very good for SEO within a reasonable text extension.

Maintaining a high density in a text of more than 2000 words can be almost impossible without affecting readability and coherence.
Besides, it is convenient to divide the post so that they are not too thick, but they would still count as the same post, think if you get two posts from a better one.
Posts that say nothing annoy readers. It is preferable to avoid lengthening the entry for the sake of lengthening the entry since the keyword is diluted and negatively affects SEO.

What is the ideal text extension to position a post?

I suddenly tell you that they are 1000 to 1500 words, it is what I think a post should last on topics that admit it.
It’s pure statistics, I’ve searched several topics that are written eye, not fashion, not decoration, not videos and the best positioned are long posts and in some cases too long.
The posts of more than 1000 words with an average of 1250 are the best positioned compared to others with less content that talk about the same thing.

But what about our readers? Do they like very long posts or short posts?

Study your visitors to see who they are and where they read you from because in the event that you have a majority of readers on mobile devices, 1500 words are eternal.
Negotiate up to 800 or use separators to divide the post into 2 pages or as many as are needed, you may have to use more images. In the case of mobile phones, 400 little words may yield about 600 words.
Also see if long or longer posts are successful.

My content does not give to write so much text to position for a long post

This is easy to happen , I can’t imagine some fashion, design and photography blogs writing 1500-word paragraphs about a seasonal must-have or in a photo blog a 600-word text under each one can break the magic.
For this I am going to scare you away because there is more text than you think!:
It is not only the text of the post as what you are reading , not all the text counts, the one that is seen in the entry therefore some tricks to increase the text without anyone knowing are:

  • Descriptions in the photos, in addition to this, google loves it and people who need them.
  • Make a short summary at the end of what has been used in the post or what has been discussed.
  • Everything that appears in the sidebars is text… so take advantage!
  • Complete with a lot of information that you would like if you were looking for that, I am not telling you to do a review but almost.
  • At the end of the post, you can talk about your experience, how you got to that product, why you like that place, an anecdote about how it is used.
  • If your “added” text makes the post ugly, you can divide it with the tag that all themes usually have to divide the content into ones: “<– next page –>” depends on your template.

Maybe you can get to 600 words easily, but don’t get obsessed; If the post is rich in original images, Google understands it as if it were reading, the same happens with the videos, they delight you whenever they are with your beloved alt.
In video posts, the best trick that exists is to make a small transcription in the post so that people who cannot reproduce it, have hearing problems or who do not like the video format can read it.

If you see that in your content the text does not stick or glue, you can add it by dividing the post into two parts as I have done with this one on templates I have divided it into 7 and thus you do not have the text so visible and you can put it as extras .

I hope you don’t get scared by the number of words , think that apart from those of the text that are very important, there are those of the images, those of everything that has text (menus, author’s box) in reality there are not so many.
Think that this is one more point to take into account for the positioning of your blog, look for a way to align it with your strategy since the tendency for positioning is to provide quality content.
