I’m sorry to start like this but I’m quite fed up that by having a blog you have to be exposed to a series of abuses of which they want to make you feel guilty.
Today the post is very different but necessary, it’s about not letting your work be underestimated, don’t let yourself be neglected and assert yourself because you do a great job with your blog, well I’m fed up, I can’t hide it, so I’ve decided to give a motivational talk. When you have a blog, you are exposed to many more things apart from being read: to be taken by the night watchman’s whistle, to be asked for free help, to be tried to vacillate and to abuse your work, criticism. I don’t know can say to everything “Of course, gape!”
Being exposed to the public does not mean that you have to “let yourself be manipulated”, not cute at all, you are the one who decides what you can collaborate on, work on and how far the limits of generosity with your time are, so be clear that:
- You don’t have to answer rudeness or inappropriate questions about your life
- Your blog is your home and you can set your rules
- You have the right to use it for the purposes you want, fun, monetization, work, disclosure… without anyone making you feel bad about it
- Having a blog does not mean putting a free consultation in which everyone believes they have the right
- By having tutorials, you do not have the obligation to provide technical assistance in this regard
- You do not have to give in to blackmail or coercion
- If you are a professional you can guide with your articles but you are not obliged to work for free
- It is up to you to accept or decline both commercial and collaborative proposals
- You can deal with the topics that you want and give them your personal approach
- You have the right to withdraw, modify or increase the content or delete your blog whenever you want.
There are people who use blogs as free advertising space to take advantage of to promote their brands and products.
At first, it’s exciting but as time goes by you realize that some people use your work in an unprofitable way for you and knowingly harm your blog, therefore you have to turn off the tap.
Difference to a clueless reader or buddy from a cheeky spamer:
You have to know how to differentiate people who are readers or interested in the subject, people who are very innocent from those who are professionals who are easily identified:
- Corporative mail of the product that they promote, if, as the bosses send them, they like to keep track of how much they have spammed and if they have deceived a sufficient number of bloggers.
- ad hoc advertising; They look for the most accurate post, as is the case with crappy-hosting companies, which means reading that word and they leave you the link.

Tips to deter people who try to abuse your work.
First of all, having a contact section will help you avoid friction. There are many companies that, although they do not pay if they send press releases or contact you to inform you about their product in case you might be interested and want to mention it even in passing. It is also the best way for them to understand what you do and the value of your effort to have a section about me.
- Remove the link, if you can edit it, the better, that hurts them a lot, there are times they do it just for this.
- Respond by highlighting the nature of your comment, they should not be very professional or solvent to be doing this type of strategy, don’t you think?

- Be vehement with the philosophy of your blog.

I put you in a situation so you can see how they arise: a few days ago the marketing managers of a platform arrived and left me a comment with a link and a self-promoting announcement, as if I were the bulletin board, I got serious in the answer I gave, since it was an attempt to advertise and foist a link on the nose.
As one of the things that I think I have already repeated about 20 times throughout the blog, do not leave links in the comments . It is clear that when they come from professionals, they are committing a conscious abuse, even if they want to play dumb because they actually intend to abuse the kindness of bloggers and that is taking us for assholes. To all this they contact me again for the comments and they tell me that I have not been fair and my words were harsh, well no, they were not, they were the ones that deserve an abusive attitude.
Imagine for a moment that I have an agreement with another similar platform and it causes me a problem or that, as was the case above, the platform did not please me.
Another person would have passed, but I’m not getting tired of those who fight my work, and I’m sure you’ll have lots of similar situations.
